Nainital

A Placid lake surrounded by towering peaks, spellbinding views, Greenery all around, and a tranquil atmosphere. Nainital has earned the epithet of 'Lake District' of India. The most prominent of the lakes is Naini lake.

Bhimtal

Bhimtal is one of the largest lake around Nainital named after Bhima of Mahabharata. The beauty of Bhimtal is enhanced by a small Island surrounded by crystal blue water that can be approached only by a boat and at present it has an Aquarium there.

Sattal

Sattal is a unique, unforgettable spot having cluster of lakes placed amidst the oak forest. It is comparable with Westmoreland of England. As one approach toward Sattal first lake is old Nal Damyanti Lake. On moving ahead there is the ashram of Stanley Johns an American Missionary.

Naukuchiatal

Naukuchiatal is also famous for a local belief as per which you can attain Nirvana if you see all nine corners of Naukuchiatal Lake from a Single Point.Naukuchiatal is a must-visit for those who love getting lost in the serenity of nature.

Bhowali

It is 1706 meters above the sea level and 11 KMs. away from Nainital.This is a road junction serving all the nearby hill stations from Nainital.Bhowali is famous for its scenic grandeur and as a hill fruit mart.

Kainchi Dham

A famous Hanuman temple located in the womb of Kumaon mountains is the Kainchi Dham. The place offers a perfect combination of beauty and spirituality. Surrounded by mountains and forests with a river flowing alongside, Kainchi Dham is a heaven for people who seek peace and calm.

The temple was established by a local and very profound saint, Neem Karoli Baba in 1960s. It is also an ashram of Neem Karoli Baba who is believed to be an incarnation of Lord Hanuman. Devotees claim to feel the divine presence of Lord Hanuman and Neem Karoli Baba at the ashram.

The ashram gets its name corresponding to its location which makes a scissor-like (Kainchi in Hindi language) shape as the two hills, between which the ashram is located, cut and cross each other. Neem Karoli Baba took samadhi in the year 1973, and since then is considered as the incarnation of Lord Hanuman.

The Kainchi Dham got famous when in the year 1973, Steve Jobs, Ex-CEO of Apple Inc, visited the temple. Going through a stressful time in his career, Jobs came to India looking for a place where he could find answers to his questions and attain the ultimate truth of life, Nirvana, and Prajna. Jobs meditated at the ashram and went back enlightened. Later on, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, also visited the Kainchi Dham in search of peace and enlightenment.

Every year on Neem Karoli Baba's birthday, 15th of June, a fair is organized at the ashram which is highly visited by both locals and tourists. Located at a height of 1400 meters above sea level, this ashram on the Nainital-Almora road is picturesque and is among the most prominent pilgrimage sites in India. The ashram was initially built as a dedication to Sombari Maharaj and Sadhu Premi Baba who used to offer Yajnas at the place.

Tea Gardens

Ghorakhal

Famous for the temple of Lord Golu worshipped by hill people and sainik school this place is at a distance of 3 Kms from Bhowali.

Mukteshwar

Situated at an altitude of 2286 mts. on Bhowali Devidhura road, Mukteshwar is a small hill station covered with a thick wooded forest and offers majestic views of the Himalayas. Near Mukteshwar is a stone hole of Chauli Ki Jali, dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Ramgarh

Situated at an altitude of 1789 mts. on Bhowali-Mukteshwar road Ramgarh is known for a variety of Himalayan fruits and spectacular views of the Himalayan ranges. The famous poets Rabindranath Tagore and Mahadevi Verma have praised the serenity of this place. The poems 'Geetanjali' and 'Sandhya Geet' were composed here. Ramgarh also houses a fruit processing factory run by the Government.

Ranikhet

A hill station, idyllic in its charm, Ranikhet with its majestic pine trees, is 60 Kms. from Nainital. This hill station is undoubtedly a tourist?s paradise. The scented mountain breeze, fresh & pure, the singing of birds, the panoramic view of the Himalayas,Ranikhet The headquarter of Kumaoun Regimental Centre. KRC museum and memorial are the jewels of Ranikhet town.

Kausani

Nestling among thick dense pine forests, atop a narrow ridge and separated from the towering mountains of the Nanda Devi range by low, medium mountains. at Kausani the grandeor of the Himalayan scenery comes alive. The view of the snow covered Trishul & Nanda Devi is so clear that one gets a feeling of the snow being within touching distance.
